A RhB flat car with stakes - On to the details

Completing the stakes turned out not being as complicated as suspected initially and hence the stakes were done quite quickly. But due to a lack of experience with hot deformation of polystyrene, bending the lugs at the stakes' ends is still on the list. Putting the stakes into their sockets for a first test results in a vague impression of the result to be expected.

A(n almost) complete stake.

Socket with stake inserted.

After inserting the stakes into their sockets for test purposes, the overall impression changes significantly. But still a long way to a first varnishing...

The belt winches

took some more time for completion because of the numerous small parts. Unfortunately, a minor misfortune happened with assembling the first winch. I misinterpreted a prototype's photo and erroneously applied a second handle. This had to be put right and a new part had to be created for all the winches which added to the time needed.

13 parts for a belt winch - here wrong with two handles.

The components need some finishing work before assembling.

Now it's correct - just one handle and a lever for unlocking the detent.

The Euro-Cent illustrates the winches' real size.

To be continued...
... since I intend to complete the car some day not so far...
