In the hobby room - Illumination for the V200's engine compartment

Disassembling was necessary for the installation of an additional illumination

Opening the engine turned out to be quite simple, compared to various other models. After unscrewing 14 easily accessible screws, the housing can be removed from the substructure smoothly.
Holes were drilled in suitable places of the walls inside for mounting sockets for the 5V plug-in bulbs, which are connected to 5V supplies. The 5V supplies are connected to the tracks' voltage, f.i. to both of the drive's inner contacts.

Somehow it was bound to happen that I put my hands on the equipment cabinet and its control lights. 2.5mm LEDs perfectly fitted into the control lights' imitations. After predrilling with 2mm, a hole of 2.5mm was drilled. After inserting the LEDs from the rear side they were fastened with a glue based upon methacrylate. A 330Ω series resistor is used with connecting the LEDs to the 5V supply.

... and a view from outside

At the next best opportunity smoke and sound will be added...

Looks good. You may want to move your mouse pointer over the picture...
