Pimp my loco - or: Tuning details

Either fog or storm or even a hail storm - instead of complaining about this kind of weather which is no fun for train operations outside, I descend to the basement without a detour these days...

The other day it again catched my eye that I missed to correct the details' colours on the Thusis' face sides when this model got its facelift. So all of its small parts were dismounted and the airbrush gun was pulled out:

The modernization of the RhB Ge4/4 II 612 Thusis is complete now - Control panel with illuminated elements and adapted colour of details on the face

The same in red - rear view with a dark cabin and a single control light

Varnished small parts of the face side after drying

A prime coat, RhB-red and a clear varnish were applied consecutively as well as a silvery colour for the access ladders which makes the model looking a bit more like its prototype. More on this topic garnished with more details can be found in the project area.

Then a Taurus managed to sneak into the collection and I had to realize that this model didn't feauture what I'd call an illumination - this definitely was a "nono"...

The new illumination, which also covers the cabin and the control panel

So the model was disassembled and the dim lights installed ex factory were replaced with a self-constructed, more elaborate illumination. Furthermore, the pantographs' colouring was corrected. Extensive description of the complete procedure.

Since the airbrush gun was on hand with the right colour anyway, the face sides of the RhB Ge4/4 III 641 Maienfeld also got the adequat facelift:

RhB Ge4/4 641 Maienfeld after the same cure the Thusis had undergone

Repainted handrails, steps and connection elements

Some day... when I get around looking into the Maienfeld's interiors, the side mirrors sure will get their red painting, too - since these are accessible for dismounting from inside the housing only...

Just two days after having written the latter, the Maienfeld's mirrors again caught my eye and I simply couldn't stand it...

Done !
