Workshop left to its own devices for a change...

After this summer's poor weather conditions (a cautious phrasing) a few nice days in late summer were welcome to put out some trains in order to catch up on missed chances for some operations.

Steeped in history

is what one doubtlessly can call parts of the RhB's rolling stock since it reflects more than 125 years of the company's history.

And all of the models reflect their own particular era, too. The prototype of of the modern looking Ge4/4 III shown in the picture above has been in operations for more than 20 years in 2017 - while both of the locos shown in the picture on the left are more than 100 years old.

The RhB's most modern tractive units are the Allegra railcars of which the first one hit the tracks in 2010 and which is shown in the picture on the lower left.

Hauling goods and freight is a task as important as public transport in the canton of Grisons for the Rhaetian Railways. Hence the RhB provides a lot of different kinds of freight car for various tranport purposes, such as hopper cars, flat cars with stakes, tank cars, box cars, sliding wall cars and container cars as well as special purpose cars.

The pictures show quite clearly the past years' technical development and one can be curious about what the rolling stock will look like in another 100 years.
