Work causes further work

This wisdom once again proved to be true just like a self-fullfilling prophecy...
A trailer for the lately acquired railcar was sort of a must. The well known internet auction platform helped to get hold of it quite quickly. Two minor shortages regarding the new trailer's lettering and its varnish had to be ironed out first - being at it, the idea to redesign the duo for operation as a reversing train was sparked. To begin with teh result:

A tram also existed in Flensburg until 1974   -   see Wikipedia   - A click onto the picture reveals something big...

Missing lettering and varnish

The trailer was lacking both the "Staedtische Strassenbahn" lettering and the side wall braces' black varnish. The lettering was taken off the motor car, put onto the scanner, and then printed on white self-adhesive foil which was finished with matt clear varnish.
The braces were painted in black using a special varnish felt tip pen and the advertisement on the roof was replaced with that which was in stock from the previous production for the motor car.
According to the advertisement on the roof, the tram got its home in Flensburg, say this city's coat of arms was printed and applied to the side walls.

The trailer becomes an A-unit

Connecting cable for reversing train operations
Since a pendulum line is planned for the tram outside in the garden the duo had to be enabled for reversing train operations.
This was achieved by simply exchanging one of the front ends of each the motor car and the trailer with each other. The electrical connection for altering the front and tail lights was implemented via a three-core cable. A SIL chip socket was abused to get a mini-plug in the chassis for the connecting cable so that it can be removed (see little picture above on the right). Now it just lacks another driver figure for the driving trailer...

A real treasure box

for lovers of old trams is the danish Tram Museum Skjoldenaesholm in Jystrup between Roskilde and Ringsted west of Copenhagen. More than 100 exhibits can be found there, including a tram from Flensburg. Since it is a very well designed and detailed website visiting is indeed worthwile !

Time is relative

especially when it is taking place in 1:22,5. When I lately put my hands on a defective multi-function watch, I found its analogue part to be still working. This reminded me of a dining car's photo showing a wall clock...

The clock face was inserted into the wall separating the kitchen,
the movement is sitting behind it in the kitchen's cabinet dummy.

Side view - a more detailed insight will be given when placing
the mouse pointer onto the picture.

To avoid changing the clock's battery from time to time (and again and again) it will be equipped with a accumulator battery which will be charged by the tracks' voltage (which precludes building a suitable adapter).
