Too short ... !

... or: Turning a test & programming track into a test-diorama

Due to growing demand the test track right above the work bench, which also can be used for programming decoders by throwing a corresponding switch, was subject to be elongated - a length of barely three meters was too short now.
Furthermore the idea to run some rolling stock inside in case of unsuitable weather conditons without blocking the living room added to the desire for a working "along-the-wall-diorama".

The test track at the bottom was subject to elongation due to a grown demand - despite being almost 3m long.
Some preparatives were required for remedy...

... like f.i. moving light switches and ...

... marking the positions for the boards to be mounted.

Invisible fastenings for 30mm boards to be ...

... mounted on the wall at the existing track's level.

The basic work is done. Next on the agenda are the wiring and the details...

Material which already had been acquired a couple of years ago came in handy for this extension and allows for the operations of two short trains.

Both a selfbuilt switch for the turnout and a little circuit for the level crossing's warning lights were placed beside the throttle.

A first attempt with a Busch grass fiber mat ...

... and cleaning up the new platform.

I simply couldn't resist building a...

... lantern from the Frankfurt Light Railway Museum.

Appropriate ceremonial on the occasion of the new lines opening.

Some more detailing around the level crossing...

More to follow soon !
