Vacation...
... it's again the time when one gets done almost nothing.Updating these pages as well as dealing with the previously announced flatcar conversion had to be postponed due to other projects. The description of the flatcar's conversion will be published later. Nevertheless, there was some time left to deal with a couple of issues on the layout outside. End of prose, enjoy the pictures below...
Replacement of the station lighting
After having had no trouble at all with Beli-Beco's pluggable streetlamps in the freight station area, the decision was made to also replace the station lighting (LGB and Pola) along the tracks with lightings from Beli-Beco featuring a pluggable stem.Drilling holes and wiring
Excellent impression
After drilling the 8mm-holes required for the pluggable stems, additional 5mm-holes were applied a bit beside the 8mm-holes sloping into the latter. This way the lightings' cables were drawn back to the surface.
A population explosion
of both human and animal kind took place at the farm in Susch.Looks busy now
The dovecote's occupants need to be fed and the veterinary is busy as well.

Patience...
Some progress was made at this permanent construction site
... was needed until some reasonable progress was made with the freight station. After having neglected this area for a long time due to a lack of stirring ideas, building a ramp for vehicles to get onto flatcars resulted in a fundamental rebuild of this area.
Ramp under construction
Decorative tiles used as trim
First an additional turnout and a further track were implemented. A simple ramp at the new track's end was built using a wooden shuttering and cement mortar.
Pieces cut from a Pola decorative tile fitting the ramp's side and front walls were used for the facework. An aluminum angle was mounted for docking the flatcars.
Still lacking some details
First test drive
A simple way to mount figures
and similar which is far superior to the usage of adhesives was found more or less by accident:New parishioners
Fast and save mounting - still reversible
A hole of either 1.5 or 2mm in diameter is drilled into the bottom of the object which is to be mounted - depending upon its nature. A brass wire of a corresponding width is inserted into this hole then. The latter can be plugged into a Fischer SX4 or SX5 dowel respectively. When placing objects on plastic ground plates, the dowel can be omitted. Objects are firmly fixed this way but still easy to remove (f.i. for renewing).
ROI
Absorbed in playing, the photographer remains invisible
Return On Investment hits it pretty perfectly. When the result of the work is being used or honoured in such a way, it feels almost better than playing oneself.
