All Quiet on the Garden Front...


... at least regarding the garden railway. Several gardening tasks had been queued since a couple of months - which now had to be accomplished. So there only was time left for - cutting trees and bushes.


And that's the end of shadows in this part of the garden.
3 approx. 20m high Douglas and ordinary firs were cut.
Cutting apples, pears, cherries, hazelnuts and quinces was far less spectacular but more time-consuming.

... but not in the hobby room


A bit off-topic in this place, but interesting nevertheless: An excursion into ship model building begun in autumn 2007 with our son Simon was finished in mid February.
Reviewing the results, which indeed are worth taking a look, it becomes clear that a vast amount of spare time went into this project: Construction report (in German only).

Last but not least...

... back to the original topic. Reflecting the pleasing experiences made with the Beli-Beco brass lights, the decision to buy park lights from the same manufacturer was made. Too much of my astonishment these lights were found to have wooden sockets after unpacking them. A permanent usage outside appeared to be at least questionable - but ...

Test mounting - does it fit ?


Turned, drilled, grounded, varnished, ´staked´ - weatherproof
The wooden socket were measured und new socket were made from stainless steel. A first fitting is shown in the picture on the left, on the right you can see the upgrade to weatherproofness.
