Winter farewell...

Appearances are deceptive...

The marvellous sunny weather late in March was a good oppurtunity to run more than a single train for the first time this year. The continious damp "winter" had its seamy sides, though...

... welcome to the maintenance camp

Due to its continious dampness the last winter had gnawed at several electric connections in the tracks' environment with corrosion. Especially in places where different kinds of metals meet each other (brass/stainless steel and copper/stainless steel). Threaded connections and cable ends connected to insulated tracks as well as supplementary switches at turnouts and signals had to be refurbished.

              elimination of a power outage

Two controllers were affected by a minor problem, too. After patching the hardware, it turned out to be a software problem. Fortunately it had nothing to do with the "winter" at all and which was easy to resolve.

Summary after four years: I definitely underestimated the maintenance efforts when starting the hobby...

              Tracking down a fault

This kind of fault clearance in spring whets appetite for - train operations in Summer!

Picture puzzle - What's wrong here ?

From Flensburg to Davos - Cheers !

Solution:

1 - There is no RhB train in Flensburg.
2 - The Flensburger brewery doesn't look like this.
3 - The loco's and the container car's painting are from different eras.

And then ?

Should winter decide to return, the RhB COOP container's load waits for its completion...

Printed in seconds - cut during several TV-sessions. Ca. 100 kiwi-fruit, grape, banana and pineapple boxes.

Looks like I know what I will glue in case of bad weather at Easter :-)
